Jesuit Mission Parish Appeal

Our parish will be holding the annual Jesuit Mission appeal on 12-13 April 2025.

Kalya (pictured) is a 20-year-old Karenni woman who was born on the Thailand-Myanmar border after her parents fled the civil war in Myanmar. Despite growing up in a refugee camp with limited opportunities, she was determined to pursue an education. After school, she trained as a teacher and now teaches business and mathematics to high school students in the camp who, like her, have been displaced by conflict. Teaching has been both rewarding and challenging for Kalya,

“Sometimes the children during class seem absent, they are missing

their homeland and some are missing their parents.” Despite these hardships, she is proud to be a teacher and dreams of a better future for her students. “I hope all of my students will one day have their own land, their own house and have the freedom to do whatever they want in life.” Please help us uplift more refugees like Kalya and the students she teaches by donating to https://jesuitmission.org.au/parish.
