A World of Prayer

world of prayerThe Parish has asked me to write a few words about my new book, A World of Prayer, which may interest some of you. A World of Prayer is a glimpse into the heart and soul of other religions and how they connect with the Divine. Over 100 prominent spiritual leaders, activists and humanitarians from different faiths share their favourite prayer and offer reflections on its meaning in relation to their own life. The opening prayer by the Sufi Master Inyat Khan expresses this beautifully:

Your light is in all forms
Your love in all beings
Allow us to recognize you
In all your holy names and forms

Contributors include the Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, Sr Joan Chittister OSB, Mairead Corrigan Maguire, Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), as well as Australians Gail O’Brien, Kirsty Sword Gusmao, and Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr-Baumann AM. The diverse contributions include the enduring wisdom of the Bible (Old and New Testament), the Qur’an, Indigenous meditations, inspiring Buddhist teachings, as well as prose by T S Eliot, D H Lawrence and the mystic Rumi.

A World of Prayer is available from bookshops, or from Mosaic Resources, at a 15% discount (www.mosaicresources.com.au) and from Amazon.
