St Vincent De Paul Society

THE two sides to the work of the Society:

1. To strengthen our members' faith by undertaking works of charity whenever, wherever and in whatever form might be desired.

2. To offer a hand-up and not just a hand-out to those in need.

The Society relies on three fundamentals:

  • The first is people to help. During the last 12 months, the three Conferences attached to Our Lady of the Way Churches helped over 650 people who live in nearby suburbs. So it can be concluded there is an ongoing need for the Society's services in our area.
  • The second is members. There is always work for new members.
  • The third is funding. The Society's work relies heavily on donations.

Compeer

Volunteer friends needed!

  • Are you looking for a rewarding and flexible volunteer experience?

  • Could you be a friend to someone who is socially isolated?

  • Are you available for an hour a week for one year?

Compeer is a mental health friendship program which matches volunteers in one-to-one friendship with someone in their local community who is isolated and living with a mental illness.

We need adult male and female volunteers to spend an hour a week doing social activities with a new friend, such as having a coffee or grabbing a bite to eat.

Your friendship can make a big difference to your new friend’s quality of life, and help reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.

"I have a greater understanding of humanity on every level."
